Traidcraft plc

Unfortunately, Traidcraft ceased trading in early 2023. This has been a big blow to many producers in the developing world. However Transform Trade (formerly Traidcraft Exchange) continues to exist and is still supporting producers. They are in need of financial support so please consider giving them a donation. For more information click here

It is still possible to buy fairly traded products in the Stockport area:

Fairtrade News, Comment and Analysis

Matthew Anderson created the website www.researchfairtrade.com in 2005 as part of his PhD and he has been updating it with the latest Fair Trade news and articles ever since. His PhD investigated the history of the Fair Trade movement from the 1960s to the present day. He has been involved with Fairtrade City campaigns in both Birmingham and London and also had the opportunity join the Fairtrade Producer Partner Tour and attend Glastonbury Festival with the Fairtrade Foundation Campaigns team.

BAFTS – British Association of Fair Trade Shops

The British Associaton for Fairtrade Shops was set up in 1995 and incorporates organisations which sell fairly traded goods, whether on a wholesale or retail basis. Members work to bring about changes in the status of developing world producers through Fair Trade retailing and campaigning. They offer advice to, and provide a community for, fair trade shops and suppliers, sharing ideas and best practices.  For more information see the website http://www.bafts.org.uk
