Stockport became a Fairtrade borough in 2003 and since then the Fairtrade Group has been working to raise awareness of Fairtrade in the local area. We have produced a directory of local venues where you can buy Fairtrade products.

Our website has been welcomed by Navendu Mishra, MP for Stockport, who says “I wish to acknowledge the important work of the Stockport Fairtrade group in maintaining Stockport’s status as a Fairtrade town. The group’s hard work and commitment over many years has ensured Fairtrade products are stocked and sold in Stockport, as well as educating residents about the benefits of Fairtrade.

The Christmas Fair Trade Fair is a highlight in the Stockport events calendar, and it’s great to see the event well-supported by residents every year. I’m pleased that the Fairtrade Foundation has recognised the impact of your voluntary work and made Stockport Fairtrade group ‘community of the month’ in December 2019. The award was very much deserved. Congratulations, and thank you for everything you do for the local Fairtrade movement. The Fairtrade principle is important to me too, and I am a long-standing supporter of Fairtrade. I will support it in Parliament wherever I can. ”

Stockport Fairtrade Group is ensuring that the Stockport community has made a commitment to supporting Fairtrade by supporting disadvantaged farmers and workers in developing countries.
